Illinois law makes every licensed nurse agency report what it charged the facility and what it paid the worker. The state publishes it by county, in a document nobody reads. This is that data, searchable, for the first time.
Find your county. The mint share is yours.
Three annual reports, covering March 2023 through May 2025. Figures are hourly averages reported by the agencies themselves. Rows marked with a warning failed a plausibility check and are explained below.
Paste what your recruiter sent you and see it against these figures. Nothing leaves your browser unless you choose to contribute it.
Check your splitThe Illinois Nurse Agency Licensing Act requires every licensed nurse agency in the state to file a quarterly report listing the average amount charged to the health care facility and the average amount paid to the worker, for each worker category. Under 225 ILCS 510/14(h) and (i) the Department of Labor must then publish those figures annually, by the county in which the work was performed.
Three annual reports have been published. Nothing here is estimated, modelled or crowdsourced.
Worker share is the average amount paid to the worker divided by the average amount charged to the facility. The remainder covers the agency's payroll taxes, insurance, credentialing, overhead and profit, which the reports do not separate. A low share does not by itself prove a high profit margin. It does show how little of the billed hour reaches the person working it.
These figures are self-reported and some are impossible. Forty-six rows show a wage higher than the charge. Thirteen more show a margin so thin it is almost certainly a filing error. Those rows are marked rather than deleted, because the state of the data is itself worth knowing.
The 2023 report covers one quarter only, March to May 2023, so it is not comparable to the two full years that follow. The state says so in the report and it is repeated here because the difference is easy to miss.
If a figure here does not match the source document, or if you represent an agency whose filing was misreported, the fix is a correction on this page and a note saying what changed. Nothing is quietly edited.
