Using the site means accepting what is on this page. It is deliberately short.
Every figure is taken from a government publication and carries a link back to it. Federal figures come from Medicare cost reports filed by hospitals themselves. State figures come from filings agencies make to their regulator.
These are self-reported numbers. Nobody audits them before publication, and some of them are wrong. Obvious errors are flagged rather than hidden, but a figure appearing here is not a warranty that the filer got it right. Check the source document before relying on any figure for anything that matters.
Nothing here is legal, tax, employment or financial advice, and it is not an offer of work. What your own contract is worth depends on facts this site cannot see.
If a figure does not match its source document, say so and it will be corrected, with the correction noted publicly. Figures are not changed because somebody would prefer a different number.
Quote the figures, chart them, cite them in a story. A link back is expected. Bulk scraping or republishing the dataset wholesale is not, and automated collection that degrades the site for other people is not permitted.
Contribute only figures you are entitled to share, and do not include anyone's name, contact details or anything a confidentiality clause covers. By contributing you allow the figures to be published in aggregate. You can ask for a contribution to be deleted at any time.
Contributions that are fabricated, duplicated or clearly implausible are removed without notice.
Sponsorship buys a labelled placement for a period, nothing else. It does not buy influence over any figure, removal of any hospital or agency from the data, a co-branded report, or access to individual contributions.
Card payments are processed by a third-party payment processor acting as merchant of record, and their terms govern that transaction. Invoiced placements start when payment clears. Cancel whenever you like and the unused part of the period is refunded. A placement can be declined or ended if the advertiser or the creative is a poor fit for the site, with the unused part refunded.
A sponsor who asks for a figure to be changed, softened or removed is refunded in full and the placement ends.
The site is provided as it is, without warranty, and may be offline, incomplete or wrong at any given moment. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using it or from relying on a figure on it. These terms can change, and the date at the top changes when they do.
